Liposuction

Fat pads that are usually located at prominent spots such as outer-thighs, knees, upper arms and abdomen are hard to get rid off with consistent dieting and sports. The bothersome fatty tissue can be removed by liposuction alone or in combination with skin reduction. The indication is set at the preoperative planning. It has to be emphasized that this is an aesthetic contour correction and not a means of weight reduction. Furthermore, good skin elasticity is a requirement for successful liposuction, so that the skin can retract after the procedure.

Liposuction is performed in local or general anesthesia. Before surgery the spots that are to be treated are marked. After disinfection small 0.5 cm large incisions are made.

These are used to introduce cannulas to suction the fat. The incisions are sutured.

After surgery compressive stockings or panty girdles are worn. This allows the skin to readapt evenly over the treated areas. The compressive support should be worn day and night for 4-6 weeks.
